Have you ever just sat down and wondered what you are good at doing? Yeah me too!  After having worked in various positions, I realized that there was a spark missing.  The spark I had in 2003, when my mother and I decided to embark on a catering business. I quickly learned I love to cook and decorate. But then life happened, my mother was called home to be with the Lord.  And what was a gift and business opportunity, became one of the hardest things for me to do.  The passion and love I found for cooking had taken a hiatus, and what once was so enjoyable, brought me to tears every time I went towards a kitchen.

However, in May of 2018, something transformational happened.  An opportunity to be a part of someone else’s dream awoke the sleeping giant in me.  The joy of creating sweet, and delectable homemade treats emerged.  Shuga’s Sweet Treats was established with the sole purpose of providing delicious homemade desserts.  We want to create those feelings of growing up in the South, during a time, when families gathered around the kitchen table on Sunday, after church to enjoy one another’s company over a meal.   When recipes were passed down, lots of laughter, and cooking demonstrations from the matriarchs of the family.  I was so blessed to have my mother, “Jean”, as she was affectionally known, critique and correct my attempts at recreating her dishes.
